Letters from inmates - we get stacks and stacks of letters—

I want to take the opportunity to thank you for approving me for the subscription to The Christian Science Monitor. I received your letter today and it brought a smile to my face. I know that everything is possible with the Lord. My heavenly Father has been blessing me in many ways. He healed my daughter that was diagnosed with Rett syndrome last month. I received a[n] update report and the doctors said that she is okay that she doesn't appear to be mentally disabled. Now more than ever I will serve the Lord full-heartedly. Nothing can compare [with] what God gives us. Right now I'm also dealing with a[n] illness of my own. I was diagnosed with hepatitis "C" but I put my trust and all my faith is on my Lord that He will heal me from this illness. I just want to keep growing as a Christian or live a life of righteousness and obedience and follow the Lord's commandments. Walking with the Lord has changed my life around completely. There's always going to be obstacles but we have to over come them and stand firm we have to have the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Well I guess it's all I can say for now. May God bless you all and I hope to hear from you guys. Thank you very much for your time. C.S.

Hello again—well this is _____ writing you again to let you know I'm really enjoying myself with the material that [the chaplain] brought over to me last week. I'm wondering is there any way [the chaplain] could stop by to see me again. The day she did come to visit me, I was embarrassed to talk with her cuz never in my lifetime I ever talk with someone from a Christian program. I would be more than happy to hear from her soon. If it's possible can I have a Bible for my personal use? Thank you very much for your time. Enjoy the rest of your day. God bless you. D.L.

Thank you for responding to me.. I received your letter, thanks. I have the Textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures but I do need a Bible please. And yes, I would like to receive a visit from the chaplain. So please do place me on the visiting list. I appreciate your time and sharing very much. Thank you. Respectfully J.F.

Hello chaplain _____. This is my new address. Please send me The [Christian Science] Monitor, the [Christian Science] Sentinel, El Heraldo, and the Quarterly Bible Lessons in Spanish. Thanks. M.R.

Recently I received some literature from you, with it was a Weekly Bible Lesson. This I found to be very enriching. Would you please kindly continue to send it to me on a weekly basis? I'm also wondering if you could send me about 10 Christmas cards, with envelopes if possible. Also could you please send me 6 first class Christmas stamps so I can send out the Christmas cards I make. And one last thing, would you also please send me your Textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy? Respectfully, D.R. [Note: only Christian Science literature was sent.]

I hope my letter finds you and your staff breathing better "air" down there now that most fires are out. It is great to be alive. I hope you are enjoying the best the world has. I have written Chaplain ______ at this address. Is this direction no longer valid? If you do not know, can you refer me to some one who can? Thank you. I pray now that God will bless your life as you live for Him always. G.F.

I want to express sincere thanks for your support and the sending of the Bible and Key to the Scripture book. I received them and felt extremely blessed. My concern is that because of my status being classified as ____ that I can't attend any evening services. I also want to ask if you're familiar with the [Christian Science] Journal? For a year I had one of those and had made it all the way to maybe ___ (status) and being that my property has been misplaced or lost I have neither the Journal or Hymnal. But truly I'm grateful and send my hopes of meeting with a chaplain soon as I do have some issues of concern with my life and my desire to follow a path that has brought my people from self-destruction to being respectable. So I look forward to the visit. L.G.

My name is ___ ____ and currently reside in ____ state prison. I am indigent and I am interested in a subscription to The Christian Science Monitor. I would greatly appreciate if you could provide this for me. Thank you for your consideration. A.B.

Hello. Best wishes to you on your health and well being upon receiving this post card. I am now at ____ and it's much better here. We get to come out more and enjoy the fresh air and sun. The food is also much better. So that is good. I am writing to you this post card so you can have my address. I want to thank you so very much for all your advice and information. I will continue to read my Science and Health as well as my Bible. Thank you so much for everything. May you continue to have a wonderful day. Respectfully. J.F.
